That policy has changed, finally. A nonresident with a toad is charged a flat $6 additional fee, good for the duration of the stay, rather than the former policy of charging daily.

Hope you remember that you need to cross Mackinaw Bridge if you want to get to the UP from lower MI.

I have driven over the bridge 6 times. Four in winter in an SUV and twice in summer in a 35ft class A. It certainly is an "interesting" part of the journey.

Thanks for this information; we're planning a trip through both Michigan peninsulas next year.

Mackinac Bridge and the UP of Michigan
The Mackinac Bridge is 5 miles long and beautiful. We live in Deer Park, Mi, in the UP and travel the bridge spring and fall in our 2017 Entegra Coach, 45 ft, pulling our Chevrolet Traverse. We enjoy going across the bridge. Great views of ships, Mackinaw Island and sometimes eagles traveling alongside. If you are worried about crossing, a Bridge authority will drive your rig across for you for $1.00.
A must see is Tahquemenon Falls. They have a year round campground but inquire about size when reserving a site. There is a Koa in Newberry, Muskallonge Lake St Park in Deer Park and Critters Campground 4 miles from Newberry.
Best time of year for no bugs is after June, best time to see fall color is September. The UP is awesome. The weather is the best in the nation in the summer.
Enjoy!

We had a Class C, the first time we crossed the "Bridge", my wife insisted on having a life preserver on a and an inflated raft in he back in case we went over the edge.
Didn't have the heart to tell her that the fall isn't what was going to kill us but it was the sudden stop at the bottom!!!!!

We took a 35' Fleetwood Terra and toad all over the UP last Summer. We stayed at Northland Outfitters - Upper Peninsula Oufitters Camping Lodging northland outfitters in Seney. It is a little drive to Grand Marais (east side of pictured rocks) but a nice campground with a nice family as owners/hosts. Seney is an amazing place to tour. Northland also has kayak and canoe tours down the Fox river into Seney that are wonderful.
If you want much more to do in the U.P. let us know. I think a few of us could load this thread up with over a dozen must visit adventures.

We stayed in Munising Tourist Park last summer after making reservation the previous April. We didn't get a lake site but enjoyed the area. Pictured Rocks is a nice tour. Fort Wilkins state park on the Keweenaw Peninsula was our favorite CG. Reserve early!
