Michigan UP lakeside Campgrounds?

We are leaving for the upper peninsula of Michigan and are interested in campgrounds with sites directly on the lakes. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

About 6 miles east of Marquette on M28E across the street and beach from Lake Superior

Gitchegumeepark

About 38 miles east of Marquette between M28E and Lake Superior ran by the city of Munising.

Munising Tourist Park

Grand Maris has a small city owned RV park.. Technically you are not "Right on the water" you are perhaps 25 feet up and 100 feet from teh shore with a stairway down to the beach.

You might try one of the map services and look it up, Small town so just the name will be enough to zero in on it. Nice little town.

And not the lake but Michigan's best known water fall is Tahquamenon Falls There is a state park, and you are within walking distance of the river,, The RV park is lower falls, UPPER falls you you are a LONG walk from the falls (About a quarter mile from the parking lot to the waterfalls) Lovely golden falls. Highly recommended. Unlike the larger Niagra falls there is no commercical intrusion on the falls save for the canoe livery

J.W. Wells State Park on the west side of Green Bay (between Escanaba and Menominee) is one of our favorites. Can be crowded during the summer though.
Wells State Park Detail

There are also a number of county parks along M35 between Escanaba and Menominee that are right on the lake. Take a look at Google maps for detail.

City of Sault Ste Marie Municipal Website - Aune Osborn Campground aune-osborn in sault sainte marie is a good spot. not on a lake but directly on the st. mary's river which you can watch 1000 ft freighters pass most of the day, and close to town. mostly 30 amp with a few 50's mixed in very nice dump station. we are headed up that way in a couple of weeks ourselves. we go there every yr. also try the city campground in houghton, all sites facing the water, full hookups with 50 amp. RV Park - City of Houghton - Gateway to the Keweenaw Peninsula in Upper Michigan have fun! jimsue
