Moab Trip

We are considering going up here toward the end of April but I realized this is spring break time. I do not like attempting to have fun in massive crowds. Does anyone know if this is a good time or when a better time would be?

Hi, we spent 4 days in Moab area last April 12-16 and it was great. We were able to visit Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point State Park and the local area easily. Go early in the day to Arches, it can get crowded anytime. Enjoy your trip.

Beware! Easter Safari is April 13 - 21, 2019.

The key to visiting Moab in the spring is to find out when the Jeep week is and not be there then! Next year it is April 13 - 21. Plan on arriving a few days after the official end to let the late departures leave. The Jeep folks are actually nice people, but the sheer number of attendees means that everything is full to overflowing. And late April is way after any spring breakers. It is a popular time of year though, so either get reservations or plan on boondocking. I also second the recommendation to get to Arches early, like before 8:00 am. The poor park is being loved to death, and I have seen backups at the entry gate that go all the way to the highway, quite a ways away. Don’t overlook Deadhorse Mesa, Canyonlands, and Capital Reef while you are there.

We own a RV lot at Portal Resort in Moab, and have been going there for 20 years. Moab is very popular and busy in April and May, and of course fall. In the last 2 years, there have been 14 hotels built or planned. The town is going through a modern "boom".

Make reservations early. It is a great place, but no longer "undiscovered". We love it.

We love Moab. One of our favorite places to visit. We were there two years ago in the summer, mid July. Temps were a little warm but we had a great time. The heat never stopped us from doing things, and there are a ton of things to do there. Be sure to visit the Moab Brewery. It's a great place for burgers and a beer.

We have been going to Moab for a week in late April for the last 13 years. It's getting very crowded at that time of year. I made my reservations for 2019 this May and couldn't get the site I wanted as they were already filling up.
Reserve as early as possible!

Thanks for all the responses. I will not be going at this time of year but certainly will chose an earlier time for the visit. We love to go out in the Jeep and see things but not crowds of humans.

Drive thru Moab most years (Winter Texan) on the way to the Balloon Fiesta and then south, back in the spring.

We used to stop both way when the PA GC were open, not anymore that time of year.
It is growing like a bad weed.
