I'm planing on driving down to Myrtle Beach from Ottawa, Canada in mid November. Two day trip each way. Does anyone know a decent spot to spend the night halfway down (between Winchester and Richmond?)
Second question is that I have heard and read varying reports on the major rv parks in Myrtle Beach itself and also heard that there might be a fairly nice one in a nearby town called Longs. Any coments on where we should think about staying? (5 nights)
Thanks
Rick

Welcome to the forum. You might want to try Reviews. There is a wealth of info on this website as far as reviews of campgrounds and locations.
I believe the one you are referring to in Longs is Willow Tree. Good luck and have fun.

Hi Rick,
As far as the Willow tree Resort or a beach front resort, it all depends on what you want from your stay. If you want a forested resort with most all ammenities, but a bit of a drive to the beach, Willow Tree is a good choice. If you want an ocean front resort, with all ammenities and close to the various activities, then Pirete Land, Lakewood or Ocean Lakes is a good choice. If you want an ocean front CG that focuses on ocean fishing, Apache CG is a good choice.
Competition makes all their prices about the same. First, determine what your priorities are and then the choice will be an easy one.

Hi! A lot of the campgrounds in Virginia close early November and some mid November. I know that the Harrisonburg/New Market KOA is open year round, but that does not get you very far along to Richmond. Check and see if Misty Mtn. Campground in Crozet (just off I-64 about 15 miles west of Charlottesville) is open that at that time. The campgroundreviews.com may help with answers to these questions.

Now if you are coming down here from Ottawa you need to stay in a campground on the beach. The difference between Willow Tree and say Ocean Lakes is that Willow Tree charges almost the same price however they don't have an Ocean.
make no mistake - if you're coming to Myrtle Beach - Hit the Beach!

I don't know about stops along the way, but the great thing about Myrtle Beach in November is that there are usually no crowds. You can pretty much stay anywhere you want, including right on the beach, at reduced rates. It may start to get a little cool by mid-November, but we have still seen some crazies swimming!

27 dollars a night at Lakewood this time of year. we are going at Christmas. Ocean lakes is good to...... take 501 to 544 which ends at the entrance to Ocean lakes... turn left for Lakewood and Pirate land every site at Ocean lakes is a pull through....
Lakewood has larger sites.... Pirate land has pavillions at most of their sites....
They are all huge and very nice rv resorts right on the beach.
