Navajo Lake - Colorado - New Mexico - You Been?

Navajo Lake - Colorado and New Mexico - You Been?

Seems to be a spot that is often Missed but sure looks Nice. - The "Lake Powell" of Colorado and New Mexico.

From a Colorado review - "Navajo State Park, one of 41 state parks operated by CPW, is located near the New Mexico border in southern Colorado. The park draws more than 330,000 visitors every year. The 2,100-acre park offers boating, fishing, hiking and biking trails, wildlife viewing and camping. The reservoir is one of the largest in the West at more than 15,000 surface acres.
For more information, call 883-2208."

As we sit here with time on our hands, I was looking for a few spots to try to Visit when the World starts to Return to Normal. -

If you have Been Tell us about it. If you have images perhaps you could Share them.

Navajo Lake State Park New Mexico

While sections appear to be more "Developed" than others from what I've heard it can be a great Retreat in the Summer with the warmth and water being a great Diversion to add to the middle of a long Summer trip, especially if you have a few Kids.

Read through and if you've been tell us about the Good and the Bad, Would Love to Hear so I could plan.

Here is One Good reason to use New Mexico ..........

"Annual camping pass? Yep, all the camping you want for a flat fee. It's the only one in the nation that I know about – other states have annual day passes, but nobody will let you move in and hang out like the New Mexico system will. For out of staters it's $225, residents pay $180, and resident seniors pay $100."

- Talk about a DEAL! -

We've stayed within the park at the lower section in New Mexico at the campground on the San Juan River. Went there just for the trout fishing which was awesome! Not much around there though.

Who'd Thunk that You had been there. -

Looks like a Water only event if we were to go - it would likely be for the Kids to get some IN The Water Time. Nice thing is it is not to Far from some of My favorite Mountains, San Juan's. -

Thanks,

stayed on the new mexico side about 3 years ago. we thought it was a great stop. beautiful area. out in the boonies, beautiful body of water. great indian fry bread burgers in bloomfield from a food tent. angel peak is an interesting place to either camp (blm land) or a good day trip. mini grand canyon. one day we'll hit on the Colorado side.
