Need A Park to Stay In Austin, TX
We would like to stay around the Austin area so that we could enjoy some of the music that the city has to offer. Does anyone have a suggestion for a place to stay? We are not familiar with the city & have no idea which area would be the best for accomplishing our adventure. The best would be having public transportation available so we don't have to drive our truck in town, wishful thinking I am sure!
We are also planning on going through Houston area, any suggestions for the Houston area?
We have check RV Park Reviews and things sound either like dumps or else so far out of the city it wouldn't be feasible.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We always stay at New Life RV park in Georgetown, just north of Austin. Clean, safe, and very friendly. We will be there for Christmas thru New Years this year. I hope this helps.

We spend a week in Austin every Spring. We have stayed in a couple of parks near the city center but none that I would go back to. The one we've found to b acceptable is in Georgetown.....about 40 minutes NOrth of the city center. Cedar Breaks, a Corps of engineers park. There probably is a decent one closer to town but I don't know of it. I'll be following this thread to hopefully hear of one closer than Georgetown.
We try to stay on the north side of Austin as that's where our family is.

The Lone Star is just south of the city on I-35. We stayed there for two weeks, and were satisfied. Very professional staff. Being right next to the interstate (RANT= Why do so many parks locate so close to major highways?) it's noisy, so we ran the air circulator at night to help mask the noise.

Bastrop, Tx is just east of Austin. There are 3 state parks. I highly recommend Lake Bastrop, South Shore Park. Simply a beautiful park.
We have several RV parks too. You would enjoy our Historical Town and the music at Bastrop Brewhouse!
We are 25 miles east of Austin. Fairly easy to get to downtown Austin.

Hi, We just found a great park called Sunset Point on Lake LBJ. About 40 mins West of Austin but worth the drive. We were here for the weather yesterday but did not have any problems. We will give it a 10 in all aspects and will definitely come back when in this area.

There is a park on HWY 290E about 18-20 miles from Austin, not very fancy but convenient - Lucky Too RV park, LLC. 16421 hwy 290 E 78621 512 285 2895 and it is on the way to Houston. Good luck!

We stayed here for 3 weeks. Loved Austin and La Hacienda.

Great park La Hacienda Lake Travis area. Alittle west of downtown still alot of things todo about 20-25 minutes to downtown Austin. Nice place big spaces- nice people. We stayed there several times and will again.

Oak Forest RV Park Passport America rates Sun-Thur at $22 a night. We have stayed there twice. Huge doggie park. Only about 3 miles or so from the Freighliner Service Center. We had a 1 ton first time and still was able to get around in it. Second time was a TOAD and more easily maneuverable.

We go to Austin often. Have two boys going to school and working there. We always stay at Lone Star, very nice staff and clean park. A little highway noise but that just makes me sleep better. Can't get enough great Mexican food.
