We are later leaving for Florida this year due to health problems and now we are having problems finding a place.Due to Bike week and Race week we are not finding anyplace from St Augustine down to Titusville. We also wanted to go to Rock Crusher(one of our favorites)in Crystal River and for the first time that we have been going they are full! I have upcoming back surgery so we really feel the need to run away for awhile first. So if you are staying at a Florida campground and they have vacant sites, please let us know.We don't care for state parks, prefer full hookups and something nearby to see and do,but don't care to drive too far south. Thanks!

We are currently in Hillcrest park in Zephyrhills and there are a few empty lots...however you might have to take it for a month. Quiet, clean, friendly and welcoming with a nice warm pool and whirlpool...Might be worth a call to see. PM me if you want the ph #....I always hesitate to publish someone's #. BTW there are many others around here .

Hello Dianne,
Sylvia and I have had good luck getting into Spanish Main CG at Thonotosassa ( east of Tampa) without any ressies. Last year we called them from the cell phone while on the way down and they found a spot for us. Even though we had to move the rig from one space to another after a while, they were able to squeeze us in.
Their number is 813-986-2415.
Enjoy the warm air and sunshine.

When we went this past summer we stayed at Stage Stop Campground in Wintergarden. 20 minutes from Orlando tops. Plenty to see and do, even if you do not go to the Mouse House.
Stage Stop Campground
14400 W Colonial Dr
Winter Garden FL 34787, 407-656-8000
248 sites, toilets, water, shower, table, pets, All year, tent/RV Sites, Hookups
Here is another just up the street from them,
Orlando Winter Garden Campground
13905 W Colonial Dr
Winter Garden FL 34787, 407-656-1415
I think you may have some luck there.

Thanks guys for the tips! I also posted on "the other forum" and someone replied that was staying at Homosassa and said they had sites available. We have reservations there for a week then may go further south, around the Tampa area for a few days.So will keep in mind the recommendations for Thonotosassa and Zephyrhills.

Which CG are you going to in Homosassa? I ask because my sister-in-law lives there and we have been to almost all the CGs in the area.

Nature's Resort is a great place. I've been there several times. New, clean, well maintained. You can do nothing or participate in club activities. It is right next to the old Florida Barge Canal. This means you can boat, hike, bike ride or walk straight down the top of the levy to the Gulf of Mexico (about 7 miles). At the end of the levy there is a walkway to a gazebo like structure out over the water. South of the Resort, in Crystal River, there are many good Sea Food places to eat. A bit farther South, in Homosassa there is the State Part. Is is full of nature walks and at this time of the year a record number of Manatees.
Gary Burghoff from the TV show MASH lives there. He has a GulfStream coach.
Have fun.

Hello Di and Tom, I thought you had found a place so I did not respond earlier. We are leaving tomorrow for a month near Ocala. Try Lake Bryant MH & RV Park in Ocklawaha, Florida. It is listed in the Passport America Book. phone: 888-807-4858 or local 352-625-2376.
We also made a late decision to try Florida and everything in South Florida was booked solid.
Good Luck,
N
