New Ft Pickens Campground restrictions
While checking our reservations for the next year I came upon an alert on the Ft Pickens Campground site. It said that all vehicles will be less than 12' tall to get into the park. This will severely limit access to most class A's and 5th wheel trailers.
I'm also wondering about the people with reservations that have those tall RVs.
Looking for answers,

Thats odd but it might just mean they are no longer sufficiently trimming their trees. I noticed this is several campgrounds in late 2020 and through this year. Campgrounds which were closed to the public for covid reasons, also received little or no maintenance. Might be something else going on at Pickens, but its a possibility, in which case you could probably negotiate low branches.

You might call the RV park and ask for an alternate route for high profile vehicels.

The alert is for in the campground, so no alternate route.
We were there last month and it's the tree limbs that overhang the narrow twisting roads in the loops.
If your taller the 12 feet, don't go there.

I just talked to one of the Rangers at the Park. He said that it was just a "heads up" for the taller RVs. None of the campers will be turned away because of their height. The roads in the campground and some of the sites have low hanging limbs that might damage the RV.
He also said that the Alert probably needed to be re-written as a warning rather than the way that it was written. Every limb/tree that is trimmed has to have a special permit since the campground is located in a National Park.

Makes sense and about what I expected. Thanks for the inside info. I like this park and intend to stop there in sometime in Feb, ‘22.
