Another example of a state saying "we know best and we are only going to allow our own to come". S$#%, more and more states are doing this, either with draconian covid restrictions or higher fees or like New Mexico by fiat.

Excuse me.

Coming from Texas (our home is just south of Houston) with 123,264 COVID cases: https://www.wunderground.com/wunderm..._ven=covid-map

And having spent the summer in Northern NM with a total county count of 27 cases-- (scroll NW to Colfax County).

PERHAPS, THEY have it right! JUST THE FACTS.

There's something to be said for States' rights. But they should be applied consistently, not as a matter of convenience or political positioning.

(FWIW, the notion that there may be different rules for resident taxpayers and non residents is not at all strange to me. For example, NM applies very different rates for their hunting and fishing licensure based on residency.)

We were caught up in sudden NM SP cancellations this year. We adapted.

National Parks Open

NM State Parks may be closed but National Parks are open. The Lincoln National Park has some really nice spots.

Since you mentioned FACTS in capital letters, I would add that I am not sure comparing Harris County (pop. ~ 4,500,000 ) to Colfax County (pop. ~13,000) in terms of COVID cases illustrates much of anything really. In fact I might say it's downright disingenuous.

Now, if you were to contrast 27 cases in Colfax County NM (pop. ~13,000) with 374 in Dawson County TX (pop. ~13,000) that would be a much more valid starting point for comparison.

Lincoln is a National Forest, not a National Park, but your larger point remains. Some awesome spots.

(There is a Lincoln "National Park Historical site" in Kentucky to signify the Lincoln birthplace. It's not a "National Park" either, owing to the distinction between NP and NHP.)

Just spent a few days in South Fork, CO. While mask compliance in Colorado generally seemed to be very good, back at the RV park (where 80% of the license plates were from Texas) there was a large community fire ring at night where NOBODY was wearing a mask. We wanted nothing to do with it. Perhaps explains why TX is spiking in new cases again.

We're in Santa Fe, New Mexico now where there seems to be about 95% compliance. Hardly saw anyone without a mask on our day trip to Los Alamos today.

Most businesses wouldn't need to shut down at all if people would just do as they're told instead of thinking laws don't apply to them.

New Mexico has been excellent from the start and residents complying.
