Also Fontainebleau State Park is even bigger with more RV sites. Both have handicaps RV sites. A great deal of residents live north of the lake and drive into NOLA each day. website for LA State parks is below

We just got back from a week at the NO RV Resort & Marina. Review is on Google. We had a pull-in next to the channel. Really liked it. Quiet for the most part. Easy 10 minute drive into town (though the resort is in a sketchy part of town -- the CG is gated). Try the restaurant on site if you can, it's quite good!

Highly recommend NO RV Resort & Marina. Been there several times and all good. While you may think "Oh, no" while driving up to the joint, it's secure enough that we've never felt ill at ease. And I'm usually pretty alert to sketchy situations...

It is quiet and the restaurant is most excellent, make sure to try the Hurricane on Happy Hour!

They've several pull-throughs and, as mentioned, several that are waterfront with decent view of the channel and some working boats. There is a boatyard next door and it seems a bit prone to fires; the Nachez sternwheeler had an engine room fire and there were a couple of charred carcasses lying about the west yard area but...

Best to your fighter, and you...! I'm a Survivor, too!

When we went to New Orleans we camp at Fontainebleau State Park. It was on the other side of Lake Pontchartrain fist exit off the bridge, about 4 miles East. Price was right very quite and clean park. We had a pull through site. A deer was about 30 feet away from where we setup. It watch us from pulling in until we were finished setting up.

PS: Some of the big cancers research hospitals have made special arrangements with camp grounds. I would check with with the hospital. When we were at COE campground outside of Little Rock they had arrangements for about 15 sites with the university hosipital.

We are in the middle of our stay at the KOA. Good and bad. Love that it is smaller with more of a family feel. The dog park (a big plus for us) is very close to our site. They host pot lucks for all the major holidays. After a full day Sunday at the Easter parade we crashed and decided, hmmm pot luck, not cooking. I put together a quick salad and out the door. What fun!

It is more convenient to restaurants and we finally toured one of the plantations.

The drawback - with the twisty turns of the Mississippi, we had a 20 - 30 minute drive to get to the Canal and Elk area.
