Brookville Lake IN
We are novice RVers and are going to Brookville Lake in a few weeks to the Mounds Campground. (It will be our 2nd trip.) I am interested in knowing what we can do there that doesn't require a separate vehicle, as we have a Class C Motorhome and don't tow a car at this point in time.
I am also interested in a restaurant called Ainsley's Cafe, which I have been told is good. Again, could we ride our bikes to it, or would we need to unhook our RV and drive it to this restaurant?
Thanks.

Ainsley's Cafe is 7.9 miles from the Mounds CG. You decide if you want to bike it or not. Part of the route is along IN 101 highway which can be pretty busy. It's a great area for Ordovician fossils, no dinosaurs, (they didn't come around for for more than 200 million years) but you can fill your pockets with trilobites, cephalopods, brachiopods, bryozoans, and crinoid stems, and more. Brookville lake is great fishing, trips to nearby Metamora is nice to stroll around and look in the shops and the Whitewater canal is restored through the town.

Welcome to the site and RVing, we are from Newark area (east of Columbus). Sorry, can't help with any of your questions as it has been several years since we stayed at Mounds but I do remember it being a very nice park with large spread out sites.

Welcome to the irv2 gang and to RVing! Glad you decided to join. You should be hearing from some folks here about your questions. In the meantime, you might try using the search option (usually located in the upper right portion of the web page). You can search the whole site or you can search within a forum or thread. Good luck with your upcoming adventures!

Welcome to the Forum. I am not familiar with the area so I can not be of any help. Sorry but I am sure someone will be able to get you the information. Best of luck.

Thanks. Guess we won't be going to Ainsley's this time unless we take the RV!

HERE are my pictures of Brookville. As ChallengerRN stated, it's a huge campground with lots of paved roads to ride your bikes. There's several hiking & mountain bike trails & you can rent pedal boats to go out on the lake. I think you can also rent horses for trail rides, I don't remember where though. Lots of campers there with boats as Brookville Lake is popular for boating & fishing. Ainsley's is about 10 miles from the CG so you won't get there without a car.

If you're only coming from West Chester, it's less than 40 miles, you could drive a second car to use while there.

Another Ohio RV'er. We have been to Stonelick and Cowen State Parks near Cincinnati in the last 3 years. Both are nice
