Non Age Qualified RV Parks - Phoenix, AZ

Hey all,

Does anyone know of NON age qualified private RV park in Phoenix AZ that is open for traveling/short term sites?
Our usual park, Apache Palms RV Resort in Tempe, is now closed and due to become a lovely Condo Building. I wish the owners well but it is unfortunate for us!

Everything else in the City seems to be setup 55+ and for long term. We are NOT 55, and just like to visit for several weeks to see family.

Looking for 50amp + Full Hookups setup for big rigs. We have stayed out in some of the state parks in the periphery of Phoenix before (Usery, Pleasant, etc), but they typically don't have sewer and are forever away on the highway from the reason we go - friends and family.

Thanks!

First, I think they have to let in a certain percentage under age. Worth a try to call places. Now's their busy time. You didn't say when your traveling but perhaps in April/May would be easier. Someone said Sunflower RV let them in.

You also might try: Desert Sands, Covered Wagon, Eagle View, Leaf Verde, West World, KOA. Our favorite is Lost Dutchman State Park and the Maricopa Co. parks. They have dump stations. Doesn't take long to drive to one. Good luck!

We have stayed at Desert’s Edge in north Phoenix. Definitely not age restricted.

KOA Mesa/Apache Jct.

We stayed at the KOA Mesa/Apache Jct. This past March 1st. No age restriction, nice level gravel sites, and pool. $71 per night for premium pull thru includes patio with furniture and BBQ. And sink.
24 miles east of Phoenix next to highway 60.

Try Mesa Spirit between Main And University (on the South and North) and between Lindsay and Val Vista (to the west and east). It’s a corporate Thousand Trails park with a mix of Park Models and RVs. It is pretty large with around 1400 lots. I have an annual rental for a 45’ Class A but I only stay from October to May. They have a good number of open sites right now. It’s a 55+ park but I don’t believe they enforce that for transient renters.

And it says exactly the opposite of what you said.

From that article:

There is no rule that says these parks HAVE to allow up to 20% under 55 (which was the urban legend we had understood).

In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

I didn't make myself clear.... I do agree with you after reading their report. I also had been going by rumor in the past. That's why I said "I think...." in my first post.

You're the one who linked to the report. You hadn't actually read it?

I know that place. I'm not surprised the property is being developed.

Before I got old enough to get into 55+ places, we spent three weeks in Phoenix about 10 years ago, in February. Five days were at WestWorld, because it was near where we wanted to be. (We then went to Maricopa County parks, but that was when they were first-come-first-served and you could actually get a site and stay through the weekend.)

WestWorld doesn't have sewer hookups, which you did say you wanted. It does have 50-amp power.

But it's big (about 400 spaces) and therefore would have good site availability, although an event there could affect that. And I remember seeing a shower house, which could lessen the demand on your gray tank.

It does have a 14-day limit (within 30), which might not work with your plan of "several weeks," but it means there will be churn of spaces as opposed to people there for the season, which increases availability.

It's also relatively cheap--$38/night, including tax. It doesn't meet all of your specifications, but it's hard for youngsters to be picky in Phoenix.

Yes, I'm confused, also. After your post of "No they don't", I then found the link and stated "I assume this is still accurate".

Can we drop it now?

If Westworld has an event going on they require you to have a ticket for the event before they will make you a reservation. I just bought one of the cheapest tickets to the rodeo and booked. You don't have to actually attend.

You said private campgrounds, but you may want to consider Maricopa County Parks. At $32, they are cheap, but they are very nice. Water & Elec, no sewer. Sites level, some concrete pads, very clean bathrooms and showers. Although on-line reservation system showed all parks booked, we were able to snag a few nights last week at Cave Creek by phoning the number listed for each cg. Another site opened at Pleasant Lake when we were leaving.
