North Dakota on I29
Hi,
Anybody know of a good rv campground in North Dakota on the I29 in the Fargo area. We are leaving Manitoba to travel East to Toronto via I29 and I94 and need an overninght in that area. Can't seem to find anything that doesn't have really bad reviews.

We also have a large coach, but never find it necessary to use a camp ground for an overnite stay. I would stop at the Big Cheif truck stop at the south edge of Grand Forks, or Flying J Truck stop at Fargo, I think the exit is about 62??.. As a retired trucker, I have pareonized both many times.
good wishes from the old trucker

I agree! At this time of year, finding a campground in North Dakota is pretty tough! Campgrounds are tough enough for a quick overnight stop at the best of times! Too much time wasted getting in and out and setting up camp for just a quick overnight stop. Plus, usually when we're in travel mode, when we stop at the end of the day we want to eat at a restaurant. Too much hassle to find a campground, set up, then unhook the toad to go out to eat.
The only time we'll use a campground for an overnighter is if we need to do a black tank dump and take on water. Then we feel it's worth the hassle.
We use the truck stops if it's just for overnight. We like Wal Marts better, if possible, to stay out of the way of the truckers.
Happy travels!

Thanks guys. We are travelling in August and most of our stops will be one overninght. We are hoping though we can find a park. We travel alone and would feel more comfortable.

I do fargo twice a year for business, and hate staying in parking lots.
Someday I'll get to stay in the city campground by the river, lately it seems. Its always underwater or under construction.
Last fall I stayed at the fairgrounds, its out by 29 and was not bad at all.

Hi Jim,
Where would I find information on the fairgrounds you are referring to. Is it a par? Gated?

It's not gated. It is not really an rv park either. It's a campground, mostly I think intended for people who are going to or exhibiting in shows in the fairgrounds.
I mostly just parked there one nite. Site was ok. Room there for a hundred or more rv's, leave your money in a supplied envelope and drop it in the slot.
They had a laundry and a shower room that I didn't need to use, full hookup sites for around $20.
For sure not a destination, but camping is hard to find in fargo. Google fargo fairgrounds camping, you will find it.
For my upcoming spring trip, I'm really hoping the city campground on the river will be operating, not much snow this winter, hopefully they have it fixed from last years floods...
