Northern Wisconsin and UP

Any suggestions on places to see as well as RV parks? Would like to stay in north central part of Wisconsin and then on to Michigan UP. Thanks

We have a cottage in the Eagle River area on the twenty eight lake chain. The Chain O Lakes campground is on the water and also the High Pines campground has great reviews.

You go to the Door for the scenic beauty and quaint little "New England" style communities, not for a theme park experience. We love the Door. Be sure to get recommendations for the best fish boil near wherever you end up staying.

I'm wondering if any one that's reading this has stayed at Mackinac Island campground? We're starting to look for next August. Looking for a full hookup and info from someone who's stayed there.

Although, Door sounds tempting🤔

Right on the Lake Superior shore is Munising Municipal Campground. Munising is the town near the Pictured Rocks National Shore. We stayed for 3 days, could have spent a week & still would have wanted to be there longer.

Bay Furnace is gorgeous - at Pictured Rocks. Also there are RV campgrounds in Copper Harbor. ---> BUT we just went through this area mid-July 2016 - you need to double-check your route - there were a BUNCH of "only road that goes there" type routes washed out - CLOSED - in N. WI and/or N. MN. Check with the state DOT I guess? They'll at least know who else you should check with.

St. Ignace has a nice state park & campground, also. Traverse city is great - go to Grand Traverse Pie Company for cherry pie if you are a pie snob like me :-)

HTH -

Heading up that way Aug. 3. South Jersey to Pittsburgh to Columbus,OH on up thru Michigan to Whitefish Pt and then back down the western side of MI then home. Did the UP about 10 years ago and stayed in St. Ignace and loved it. Think we will stay on Mackinac City side this time before crossing the bridge. Anyone know if the toll is one way or both ways. Here on the east coast most of the bridges only collect the toll one direction.

Just drove over to Mackinaw City from the UP two weeks ago and yes the toll is collected before you are enter heading south(eastbound) and when you leave you the bridge heading north(westbound).

There are no motorized vehicles alowed on Mackinac Island. If they have a campground, it would be tent camping only. If you are talking Mackinaw city, We have stayed at the Mill Creek campground and would highly recommend it.
