NY to PORTLAND OR

Hi! We Own a class A and will hit the road in October heading for Oregon. My daughter lives in Portland and we’re hoping to camp within an hour from her. Any recommendations? Seems like Campground’s in that area might be a little limited. Thanks for
Any info you can share!

There are lots. East Portland, west side north or south?
If she is on the east side or south east, then Portland/Fairview RV or Sandy Riverfront RV are both clean and convenient. If you dont mind a bit of a drive and plan 14 days or less Champoeg State Park mighr fit your needs. Its about 20 minutes from south south/west parts of town.

Ha. Visiting my daughter now near Portland. Spending a month at Pheasant Ridge. Nice park, not the best park we’ve stayed at but it is the nicest place nearest the kids.
It’s in Wilsonville near I5 and 205 interchange if that works for you.

Make sure your daughter keeps you posted on the Governor's potential travel restriction plan to limit coronavirus.

Tell us what side of Portland she is located, you might get better answers.

She’s in North East Portland but we will check around and thanks so much for the advice.

Jantzen Beach, Hayden Island is the closest......live right across the Columbia River.......the park is at the Oregon end of the I-5 bridge separating Washington and Oregon....Big shopping mall there...

Many parks in the mountain west are going to be closed in October. The further north the route you choose, the fewer parks there are going to be that are open. At elevation, winter often begins September 15th.

Don't know if it is open but we like Ainsworth State Park that is on the freeway east of Portland. Very scenic near waterfalls and hiking trails Beacon Rock etc. Problem with Portland the traffic is awful even when not rush hours.

Our kids are in Portland too. Portland is big and the traffic is now horrendous! It may be too far, but we really like Milo McIver State Park.

We stayed at Sandy River RV resort in Troutdale. East of Portland and close to the Gorge. Nice park.
