Oak Mountain State Park S. of Birmingham AL

Just a little campground report. We just left Oak Mountain State Park and were very pleased with the stay. It is just minutes off of I-65 about 20 miles S of Birmingham. This is a 10000 acre state park with several lakes, a golf course, a archery range, and miles of hiking and bike paths. Some of the lakes have nice swimming ares and pavilions. One lake has a motorized zip line that will pull you on a ski over several jumps. The campground itself is 5 miles from the front gate but the roads are good. The sites are shady and paved. There are numerous bath houses which are old but clean. They have many full hookup sites. There is a swimming area in the campground that is for campers only. Nice place. Check it out if you're traveling on I-65
