Going to Ocean Lakes

It is our favorite campground in Myrtle Beach everything is right there you never have to leave the campground. If you do leave for dinner go to Murills Inlet and enjoy some of the best seafood around.

IMO, the best seafood in Myrtle Beach is the Gulfstream in Garden City Beach.

Just got back from trip.... Overall it was a great time, but there were problems.... Seems like they are in need of some changes with their security and policies. There are too many people squeezed in there and the kids (many under 16) driving the golf carts are out of control. While we were there, a kid flipped a golf cart, another child was struck by a golf cart.... The traffic was bumper to bumper (golf carts). It was like you were in a big city. People near us had their large cooler stolen with several hundred dollars in food. I didn't see security around at all.

I think we are going to try another park. It's just getting out of control there. It's a shame.... This was one of my favorite places to go. The DW says that she doesn't feel safe going there.... Afraid that either she or one of the kids going to get struck by the crazy golf carts. We went there in April and had our cooler stolen and had several people drive thru our site while we were standing there. We called security, who didn't do anything.

Very disappointed with Ocean Lakes. Hope they get on the ball.

We like the place but we never go in the summer. It is a zoo.

They claim their security folks enforce the rules but is sounds like they are letting it go. Also, it is a shame that many parents today seem unable or unwilling to control their kids.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park on the north end is probably a better bet in summer since I don't believe they rent golf cars.

I stayed at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. It is very nice there. They don't have all of the issues that Ocean Lakes does. I may go back there or Pirateland.

We returned from pirateland 2 weeks ago. The golf carts their are not much better. They are all over the place during the day. At night they parade from 9-11. Its crazy to say the least. I know we were all young at one time and had fun but we wouldn't let our kids ride their bikes due to the golf carts. Unless we stay at the SP we will not camp at MB.

Willowtree rv Resort is our favorite one in the MYR area, although it's not on the beach, it's in Longs, SC. But it's super private, gated, beautiful, clean, best restrooms EVER, - but there is a tradeoff because it's not on the beach, or near the busy areas. www.willowtreervr.com - we've been going there for 7 years now, was great when kids were little - they are a little bored now that they're teenagers.
