Oceanside CA area RV Parks
So debating on checking out the Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos area to retire in. Lived there in my mid 20s, really liked the area.
Need to escape Arizona and the heat of summer
So that said, looking for an RV park or a few, that are decent, and reasonable price, meaning under $2000/mo, to stay at and investigate the area again for a few months
Can be south, north, or east a bit, just not like 2hrs from the coast
Class C rig, 2019, 28', with a toad and the Doggo
As always, I appreciate all yer help and guidance
Holler if I missed any info

Have you given any thought to spending the summer in or around Flagstaff, AZ? Flagstaff avg high in July is 81. Just a thought.

That is some pricey territory. That is why when we are in San Diego we stay at county parks. The private resorts, especially anywhere in sight of the coast, is upwards of $100 a night. It's like $130 at the KOA and a few others "resorts."

Paradise by the Sea is nice. For short term it's quite expensive. For thirty days or more it's not too bad. A few years ago it was $100/night, but for thirty days or more it was $50/night. Not sure if this is still the case and you'll need to move spots a few times if you don't reserve well in advance. You can also do Oceanside Harbor. Very cheap, but noisy and a lot of homeless. We paid for two nights, but left after one. There's the state parks at San Elijo and Carlsbad. $50/night if you don't stay on the ocean side. Can only stay two weeks max and good luck getting spots.

Do an internet search on rv parks near Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, CA and find ones like this: https://oliveavervresort.com/rates-regulations/ for $1775/month.

You might check out the San Diego County parks. I stay down there often in Dos Picos near Ramona, and William Heise out by Julian. And there's a small one close to Oceanside called Guajomies Regional Park. There's several others that I haven't stayed at yet as well. Very inexpensive, but just have water/electrical with a dump station.

Golden Village Palms in Hemet might get you close to $2k per month for an extended stay. Regular weekday rate looks like $72 per night.

Nice another new find at Paradise, looks like $1750/mo which seems pretty normal
Ya Oceanside harbor looks a bit nuts...lol
As posted above, I'm gunna look into the County/State parks too
Not sure how availability/reservations are, so that could be an issue, but we shall see

Moving from AZ to CA may set a record/be a first. Why are thousands moving the other way? Not trying to be political and I know this doesn't answer your question, but just sayin. I get Flagstaff in winter, but is one place really that important? You're an RVer after all. Good luck with your search. Each to their own.

OP - there are a number of casinos in the area just east of where you are looking that might have long term places for you as well. Valley Center, Pala, Escondido, Warner Springs, Temecula. A bit farther from the beach, but might work out for you.
Also, be aware that the state and county parks limit stays to 14 days within a 30 day period, plus are notoriously hard to get reservations.
Good luck to you! $2000/month doesn't get much in SoCal these days.

Suggest visiting or staying at a park for a few nights to confirm it meets your standards. That is what we do before we commit to a long-term stay.

True about the 14 day per month stay limit, and only 60 nights per calendar year at SD county parks. However, in my experience SD county parks resos are fairly easy, at least a few weeks in advance, and often with much less lead time. I just checked, and most have many openings for tomorrow. Booking online is very easy as well. He could alternate between Dos Picos and William Heise (which are fairly close together) or Sweetwater, which is down near Mission Bay. I have found the smaller Guajome regional park near Oceanside is often booked up, but is at a great location. In fact all of their parks I've been to have been very nice to stay at, and well-kept. With power/water they run $34/night ($1020/month). Then after 60 nights, off to the state parks and casinos etc.
Of course many of these are tent sites, and one loop at Heise has no hookups, but there are hookup spaces at Heise and Picos open that I've used for my 28' class C.
