This is my first thread, so let's see what happens!
I would like to hear from everyone concerning those hidden spots you've stayed and loved...
One of our favorites is Pierce Ferry in NW Arizona. It is at the extreme east end of Lake Mead and the west end of the Grand Canyon. This was once a very active boat landing, but now the lake is quite dry here from the drought. There is dry camping there with ground toilets, and fire pits.
We loved both the sunrises and sunsets in the canyon. The colors were spectacular. At night we put a futon mattress on the ground for a little stargazing. The only sounds were the wind and a distant coyote...
Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk are not far away, as well as Hoover Dam. Meadview has a cafe, store, and fuel.
On Google Earth, it's coordinates are -114.002, 36.115 On a GPS, just put in the town of Meadview, AZ and follow Pierce Ferry rd to the end. Can't miss it, as it's the only paved rd going east.
