Thumbs up Off The Map

This is my first thread, so let's see what happens!

I would like to hear from everyone concerning those hidden spots you've stayed and loved...

One of our favorites is Pierce Ferry in NW Arizona. It is at the extreme east end of Lake Mead and the west end of the Grand Canyon. This was once a very active boat landing, but now the lake is quite dry here from the drought. There is dry camping there with ground toilets, and fire pits.

We loved both the sunrises and sunsets in the canyon. The colors were spectacular. At night we put a futon mattress on the ground for a little stargazing. The only sounds were the wind and a distant coyote...

Grand Canyon West and the Skywalk are not far away, as well as Hoover Dam. Meadview has a cafe, store, and fuel.

On Google Earth, it's coordinates are -114.002, 36.115 On a GPS, just put in the town of Meadview, AZ and follow Pierce Ferry rd to the end. Can't miss it, as it's the only paved rd going east.

East fork reservoir, just west of Anaconda, Montana. No people, no stores, nothing but the mountains and the good friends you brought with you. Water temp in middle of summer barely gets above 45degrees. Super cold if you fall out of the canoe but wildlife everywhere

Sorry to be the bad guy but we have a very nice private spot that we like to keep private. We used to go to another spot that was really nice and we told someone and they told their friends and the next time we went it was so crowded we had a hard time finding a place to park.

We have stayed at Devils Tower as well. Both the KOA and the park one. Watching Close Encounters outdoors there is a blast!

Some of the State Parks in Northern PA. (Kettle Creek, Ole Bull, Clear Creek, Hyner Run) Forget about cell or TV reception. Better fill up with gas at the freeway (1 to 1.5 hours away).....I like it
Peace & quiet....

This Blue Lake RV Resort - North Idaho RV Park - Bonners Ferry & Sandpoint, Idaho is a hidden gem, at least we think so. Owned by a young couple, it is big rig friendly and also has some secluded places to camp. A nice well stocked lake and off the beaten path. We only spent one night as we were passing thru the area but we are planning to return for a longer stay.

Sooooo many spots, but I'll highlight a couple:

1/ Sea Rim, TX - absolutely awesome boondocking spot we discovered just recently on the TX coast. See more here Boondocking Site Review – Sea Rim State Park, Sabine Pass, TX | Wheeling It

2/ Dixie Forest, UT - waaay out there and very, very lovely. It made our very own "top 10 campgrounds of the year" list. See more here NF Campground Rating

Lots more, but these are 2 gems

Nina
