Oklahoma City

I need to drop off DW at airport in Oklahoma City. Two questions, first does anyone know if I can get in to drop her off in 34’ class A with toad? Second, does anyone have a recommendation on where we could spend the night close by and then I could drop her off with the toad and then return and get back on the road. I looked on Allstays and get terrible reviews on campgrounds and Walmart’s . I tried a Casino close by but they don’t allow overnights.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm not familiar with the airport and don't know where it's located, so this may or may not help you out but . . . The City of Edmond, on the north end of Oklahoma City has several campgrounds in the Arcadia Lake area. If you're interested, you may want to check with the Edmond Department of Parks and Recreation. We have not stayed there and I don't know how well rated they are; I just remember hearing about them when we were passing through. OKC also allows camping at the State Fairgrounds, but I don't know if that's year-round or only during events. I believe there's a Cabela's in or near OKC, as well. You could give them a call - they'll usually allow RVers to overnight in their parking lots as long as it's not against local ordinance. Good luck with your search!

You can take a test drive through the OKC airport terminal area using the street level view of Google maps (https://goo.gl/maps/oLg2hZsfdVS2). Here's a screen capture of the passenger pick-up area:

The passenger drop-off lanes (closer to terminal doors) has a posted max height of 10'.

It looks like you should be able to easily make it through the passenger pick-up area with a toad in tow. You may not be able to get all the way to the curb where the courtesy vans park, but, if it's just a quick kiss and drop, it looks like you should be able to do it.

Take care,
Stu

Passenger drop-off is elevated and may have weight restrictions. Pick-up is at ground level but does have the overhangs. I would call the airport and ask. I bet you wouldn't be the first one.
Can you disconnect the toad and drive in that way? That would solve airport issues.
For parking, there's a Cracker Barrel within 2 - 3 miles up off Meridian. I'm not sure if they allow overnighting, but I see to remember seeing rigs in the parking lot. That's worth a phone call.
Good luck!

Steve

Roadrunner RV Park is a very nice park and 15-20 min drive from the airport.

We stayed at the Road Runner RV park in late 2015, this was the year they were hit by a tornado. They were in the middle of rebuilding, not done at that time but looked like they were making good progress. If you go to their website Photo Gallery it looks like the did a great job. Doesn't hurt to patronize a park that went through something like that and is now thriving.

Roadrunner added a whole new section after the tornado. They also built a brand new office/clubhouse. We use Roadrunner as our home base when we’re in Oklahoma.

Roadrunner is a good park. But be careful wandering around the area outside the park property.
