We just did that trip last week.
We stayed at:
South beach State Park in Newport OR
Bullards Beach State Park in Bandon, OR
Mad River RV Park in Arcata, CA
Thousand Trails Russian River in Cloverdale CA
Then we stopped in Patterson, CA at Kit Fox RV park and A Country RV park in Bakersfield.
Took our time and watched the weather as that Bomb Cyclone came ashore last Tuesday
It was worth reserving ahead as we did. Every place we stayed at (besides the state parks) were full of snowbirds heading south as we were.
We are in a 33 foot Class A with Toyota Tacoma following. All the sites fit both together with no issue.
We didn't want to mess with snowy traveling weather over Siskiyou and Shasta Mountains which happened while we were heading down the coast. The coast is a pretty drive, but a lot more work than I-5 is if the weather is OK along I-5.
