PA camping in early March?

Any suggestions for a place to camp in eastern PA in early March? Everything I found is closed until end of the month and the kids are bugging me to go camping. We would like someplace within a couple hour drive if Allentown for a short weekend trip.

GuidoDoc:

If you can hold them off til March 14 here is an option: Country Acres Campground | Bird-in-Hand, Lancaster County PA
Country Acres Campground near Lancaster, PA. A really nice clean place.
Lots to do in the Amish area nearby.

Good Luck, Bill

How about Old Mill Stream Campground at Lancaster, it's open all year. We've always liked staying there.
On US 30 just east of Lancaster, next to Dutch Wonderland. Lots of things to do and see in the area.

According to Google, Ricketts Glen is within 2 hours of Allentown. They have one section open year round. No hookups, but there are bathrooms with showers. Great hikes through the 22 waterfalls in the park.

Good Sam campground search engine can be used for this.

Click on Pennsylvania, Click on open all year

You will get 54 hits - then you can zero in on the area you want

We live in the western part of NJ and go to Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in northern Morris County.
If you like "camping" and hiking this is a great place.

No I didn't? I looked through them and can't find it. We booked that weekend up at Promise Land State Park in PA. We have a site on Pickerel Point. I don't know if you've checked this place out yet but the point just reopened after a $3.4m renovation and it is unbelievable! They even have a bunch of full hook up sites now. And it's another great place for hiking, boating, swimming, you name it. It's up near Lake Wallenpawpac to the southern side of Rt. 84.

Would love to go to a state park in PA but they have a two dog maximum. We have three old ones.

Only take two out at a time! Seriously. I know a breeder that hauls 12 Springers in an air conditioned trailer behind their Class A. He and his wife walk two at a time

No that would not work. We like to hike with all three and knowing my luck we would get kicked out at 8 PM.

Thanks for the input so far. We love Ricketts Glen. Saving that for later in the season. The Mahlon Dickerson Reservation looks like a great option.
