We have about 5 weeks to kill between Port Angeles area and Banff. Lets hear some places to stay for a week or two. Should we head to Victoria Island? Access to decent road cycling is a must.

Thanks for any tips.

Ferry fees might be a little steep.......but, it's a 3 hr ride from Dew point to mainland...

Southern BC is a flood zone due to a rapid rise in temps , accelerating snow melt, after a few days of heavy rain. Just about any area that has good cycling has flooded roads and cycle path issues .
Washington State ferries runs to VANCOUVER island and Victoria area and may be your best bet for rates and good riding for a few weeks.

Cool. Just found a park outside of Victoria with nearby paved trail access. Sweet!

280.00 for the ferry. Dang. Until they build a bridge, they gotcha.

If you have time , check out mid week pricing on WSF , departing Anacordes ( SP ? ) WA , some times they run a Wednesday afternoon special for over length.

Having toad drive on separate can be a savings too , makes about $100 difference on my route on BC ferries.

I think the mid week discounts are on BC ferries and on certain runs. I've never heard of Washington State discounting. It is Anacortes, and it is a beautiful cruise.

The BC ferries would be more direct for your route.

If you do decide to go to Victoria, check out the FtVictoria campground. It's not terribly fancy but it is a great location close to the Galloping Goose bike trail. This rails to trails leads into Victoria one way and out to a rural area the other. It also connects to another bike trail that heads towards Sidney.

On the mainland, you could head up through Whistler and do the loop down Hells Canyon or cut east on one of the more northern routes. It's a beautiful area.
