It would be prudent to get a map of the area and decide where you want to go, North or South Padre Island. They are separated by about 100 miles. They are the same piece of land, just running along the Texas coast.
Corpus Christi is at the North Padre end, Brownsville is at the South Padre end.
Your post said you wanted to take a 3-hour boat cruise, that would probably be the Corpus Christi area.
Decide on what area you want to explore and the members on this forum can chime in with recommendations for RV parks.

Just looked up the mileage between Corpus Christi and Brownsville and it is actually 160 +/- miles.

OK, learning more. A little more research and it is South Padre Island we would want to be at. Looking at a map I see a KOA there.

I camped at the southmost rv park on South padre 10 years ago. I listened to police and ambulances all night. Too many issues for me to go back. From there we went to Corpus chrisiti and camped 2 blocks from ocean in a nick park.

AllanK,
Just as a heads up. March is Spring Break time at South Padre Island. There are several sites online that discuss the events going on during the break, along with the dates.

There’s a brand new place near Port Isabel, maybe 20 minutes towards Brownsville, that you may want to take a look at ...
https://www.tropicaltrailsrvresort.com/
You’d be close to South Padre and also Boca Chica Beach. Just a thought.
