Padre Island National Seashore

Would like to hear from anyone that has camped at the North or South Beach. We are going to be in that area in early February. Are the tides a problem during February? Is it possible to get my 24' Class C onto the beach without any problems? If it is too risky we could camp at Malaquite Campground for $8 a night or go to RV Park. Website doesn't mention that it is closed because of Hurricane Harvey. Any information is very appreciated!

Tides are not much of an issue on Padre. The problem is wind. A east wind will push a lot of water onto the beaches. We fish on Padre 4 time a year for 3 weeks at a time. In 2017 we saw the beaches underwater several times due to east wind, 30+ mph. We do not camp on the beach. I don't know the laws or regulations concerning beach camping. I do know you are required to have a beach pass to park on the sand, but not in paved parking lots. The pass is about $12 and is good for a calendar year. You can get a beach pass at several places we get ours at HEB in Flour Bluff. Somewhere on Youtube is a video that shows what happens to a camper parked on the beach when the water comes in. Also do not leave your awning out unattended, I have seen several on top of RVs. Other than that have fun.
