Painted Desert / Petrified Forest Natl Park in AZ
Traveling west on I40 through AZ. Thinking of getting off I40 east of Holbrook at the exit for entrance and visitors center, then driving the ~28 mile loop through the park and then highway 180 back to Holbrook and the I40.
Practical to do in 40' Motorhome with toad? Room enough to stop at visitor center and some view points?
Thx
Vince

Did it with a 32' class C and 20' car trailer. No problem at all.

Jealous as we did it many YEARS ago in our class c towing a jeep...
(JUST found some pics of when we did it - the clothes and rv give away how long ago it was )
just ask though and any doubt, disconnect to enjoy it in the toad, I highly recommend both places !
Do the introductory film @ the entrance first .

Made the tour last February.40' towing. Nice, but painted desert was best. Saw more petrified wood near the entrance at a store!

Did it two years ago towing our toad. Take your time and enjoy. No problem at all finding parking.

I believe you can enter the park from the east end and exit at Holbrook.
Westbound Interstate 40. Take Exit 311, then drive 28 miles through the park and connect with Highway 180 at the south end of the park. To return back to Interstate 40, take Highway 180 North for about 19 miles to the freeway.
Directions and Map: Petrified Forest Arizona

Just did it a couple of weeks ago pulling out 39 foot 5er, when returning home from roof replacement in Mesa. No problems or concerns. Our only complaint, got there late and didn't have time to "stop and smell the roses"!

A little further west from there is Metor Crator. Don't miss that either.

Memories - many, many years ago when still a child I remember going there in a brand new 1955 Pontiac. Still have good memories of the trees (rocks). Pontiac long, long gone but memories still here (although a lot of other memories are gone).

If you plan right, stay over night at the meteor Crater rv park, it is a nice park and is only about 5 miles from the actual Crater. Did 2 nights this past July and it was a great park. Left the coach be hind and drove the petrified Forest and painted desert in our Jeep.

Left the MH at the Visitors center. Took the toad around the loop, walked the paths, shot the photos, and had lunch in Holbrook. Back for the Toad on the Interstate. Meteor Crater RV for Happy Hour.
