We found the worst restaurant in the US!
First, we were in Panama City Beach during the "off" season. Apparently every restaurant that was recommended to us was either closed for the season (half the restaurants there were closed for the season), not in that town or GONE! Looked in the phone book and couldn't find them. This is not a town for a foodie! None of the restaurant were really great (now bear in mind most were closed and wouldn't open until March). Stopped in at a restaurant supply store (needed a really good spatula), asked where was a good restaurant... they couldn't tell us. So stopped at a place called Captain Joe's... sign outside said "all-you-can-eat seafood buffet, roast beef, oysters, shrimp...." you get the idea. So we stop in... no oysters, had mussels (I love oysters, hate mussels), the salad bar consisted of iceberg lettuce, 2 dressings (white & vinegrette type), some raw broccoli and slivered ginger for the sushi! Yep, it was an oriental restaurant. That was okay, we eat at one all the time in NC. My favourite thing is Crab Rangoon (cream cheese with a little crab meat wrapped in a wonton wrapper and deep fried)... Captain Joe's Crab Rangoon tasted like it had been made with really cheap, smelly cat food. I ate one and sat there trying to decide if I should swallow or spit! (I swallowed... shouldn't have

). The rice was undercooked and the General Tso chicken (my other favourite) had no taste. David said the fried popcorn shrimp was like eating pencil erasers. A little salad with white dressing and 1 tiny crab rangoon was all I could eat. David didn't do much better (stronger stomach or more stubborn?).
Stopped at a place called the Mariner... It was lots better. Had a winter special All-you could eat buffet with crab legs that was 2/$19.95 on Mon & Tues. Went on Friday and got fried oysters... nice & plump.
The BBQ place that was recommended wasn't that great, but we are picky about BBQ. It was on the par of a place in Franklin NC called Fat Buddies (which was written up in Southern Living as being a great BBQ place when Willy's is WAAAY better but higher priced).
I may of had high expectations. I kinda thought that Panama City Beach would have lots of great restaurants like Stuart (FL... "restaurant capital of the world" ... we used to live there and ate out alot since I didn't know how to cook at the time

). I was looking forward to some great seafood but ended up having to cook it myself! Darn
