Just what you need to do ; get air lifted into an ICU full of COVID-19 patients; fun way to end your weekend . JMHO , of course.
One of the saddest flights I ever had as a fixed-wing air ambulance pilot was a victim of a boating accident involving alcohol on the Colorado River. A beautiful young girl was thrown out of the boat at high speed onto the rocks lining the bank. It was a dark night and everybody on board was intoxicated.
I hauled a lot of people from the Imperial Valley and Colorado River to San Diego injured in dune buggy accidents near Glamis and boating accidents on the river. I usually didn't have too much empathy for those who caused the accidents but this girl was different. She had a severe brain injury that wasn't her fault and she was convulsing almost continuously all the way back to San Diego.
Another very sad case was a young man who crashed his Corvette at 140mph a few miles outside Ensenada, Mexico. He convulsed all the way back to San Diego. Every time he convulsed he coughed up small pieces of glass. Those memories will always be with me.

That could be Cherry Creek State Park. They dont have a lot of large bodies of water so Cherry Creek and Chatfield SP seem to have a crazy amount of boaters for their size. In other areas of the country with more large bodies of water these two spots would not be so popular.

Someone in our hometown was on a party houseboat and got pushed off and was decapitated by the motor. I'd never be in an area where there are masses of people; mostly drinking.

And...................... You forgot TOO MUCH ALCOHOL!!!

For those of you that don't know the area, the Parker strip is just south of Lake Havasu. I have lived and visited here for more than 40 years and it's always crazy on big weekends.

The last month of so every weekend has been like a holiday weekend as Parker Strip and Lake Havasu are the closest places to get out of CA and avoid the draconian lockdowns.

Here's a picture of one of our Party Coves in Havasu from a big weekend to try and help y'all understand just what "Crazy" means

We have a place on the strip and were there that week. Saw all LEO vessels going by and wondered what happened. Guess I know now...

I haven't been on the Parker Strip since we sold our boat in 2002. At that time, the Coast Guard claimed that 1/3 of the boating fatalities in the state of California occur on that stretch of river. Looks like it hasn't gotten much better.
