Passport America vs Good Sam
It seems a lot of RVers have both PA and GS memberships. Is there an advantage at having both? PA has a better CG discount compared to GS. Does GS offer other benefits not offered by PA other than the ones you pay for?
Thank you for your insights.

We have both. GS is more widely accepted and you are more likely to find that discount available wherever you stay. PA has fewer participating locations, and how that discount applies and when varies by location, but we keep it because there are PA locations we use regularly when we visit our kids. I'd take a look at the PA locations list and see if there's any you think you might use.

Passport definitely will give you a better rate - 1/2 price; Good Sam only 10%.
If you're retired and flexible in your travels, Passport is the better of the two. It does have restrictions and it would probably be hard to use 100% of the time but using it only a couple times a year would pay for the yearly membership.
As full-timers, we got our money's worth out of it.
Go to their site and you can see what rv parks accept Passport and how much you will save on each one. Naturally, all parks have different fees and it would be 1/2 off their fee.
When we got into a park and wanted to stay longer we were never denied the 1/2 off price. This probably wouldn't be true on busy weekends or in popular places.

Good Sam also offers a discount at Camping World and is often a freeby for a year or two when you buy an RV from them. We have GS, PA, and AAA for various reasons. ;-)

We use PA as much as possible when we're in transit from Point A to Point B. We just spent 11 days getting from MO to TX. Never paid more than $20 a night, most nights were $15. Certainly paid for the PA membership.

X2 for PA. But with Good Sams you get a lifetime supply of junk mail. AARP, AAA and FMCA will often get you the 10% discount.

My suggestion is to get them both.
PA will save you the cost of the membership in just 1 or 2 nights at a participating campground. GS gets you a much smaller campground discount, which we've used, but it's also worth having for the discounts at CW.

We have and use both, PA first if available, and when we find a PA in an area we want to stay we'll check the big book and many (at lease some) are also Good Sam or listed in the camping world(?) directory. Kind of nice to get 50% price at a Good Sam rated park.

PA for sure. Easily can more than paying for itself. I bought a multi year membership for further savings.

Passport America vs Good Sam
We have PA, GS and KOA. All are useful and have discounts. One thing we have found—when we get the PA discount it seems the campsites we are assigned are frequently the less desirable ones. Anyone else notice this?

We have both GS and PA. We find PA works better when driving to a destination and only staying a night here and a night there. Also in some places like Florida it is not honored during Dec-March in many of it's campgrounds. GS is always good and with the CW discounts is worth it as well.

Yes. Tried it at a local park, decided they did not need our business because of it. Park was almost empty so it would not have hurt them to put us somewhere significantly better than down in a swamp hole.

We have Good Sam and KOA cards. Both have paid for themselves in discounts received.
