Pecan Plantation, Granbury, TX
Hey, from the cute little "Shady Camp" campground inside Pecan Plantation near Granbury, TX!
Our hosts say it's the slow season, but I expecting to see some Snow Birds here.
Has anyone else ever camped here?

almost our address
we've never camped there - but we almost bought a house there.
years ago. early 90's. DH interviewed at the local Nuclear Plant.
don't think that the campground was even developed at that time.
since then, I've corresponded with a couple that live at Pecan and have an RV. are you visiting someone that lives there ? I didn't think that it was a public campground ?
we decided to stay in PA (family, ...) but have thought about that decision a lot in the last 2 years.
if I ever get out from under this cancer cloud, we might put Pecan in our sights again.

I'm a resident inside the community, it is a nice park built for members and their guests. It is next to the pasture where members' horses graze, across the road from our river "moat." The Pecan RV Club is currently building a large pavillion at the park. Frankly, I don't know the restrictions, ie if you still have to be a member or guest; or, if (like they do at the big clubhouse) the park can be used by the public and/or for events. I doubt if the snowbird thing will fly: even members can only stay at the park 30 days, if my memory is correct. The clubhouse staff can answer questions at (817)573-2641.
If the answer is yes, once inside Pecan life is good: we have our own shopping, clinics, bank, dry cleaners, liquor store, etc. inside the gates. Crime is virtually non-existent, if you don't count the trickle of teen vandal whack-a-mole all such communities endlessly play.
Pecan is a sprawling private community with more than sixty miles of streets within its gates, basically an "island" formed by a long loop in the mighty Brazos River, forty miles southwest of Fort Worth. It has two golf courses, two country clubs, a marina on Lake Granbury, stables, tennis, many other amenities. The legacy airport has 130 homes and 200 aircraft based at the field. A new airport in the middle of the property has just opened. Both are residential airparks with dedicated taxiways for aircraft movement.

Yes, guests to "Pecan" need a sponsor.
There are time limits for guests, but I would think snowbirds would spread the winter among a few destinations. I guess one location would be easier, but what's the fun with that? If I lived in the extreme north, I would make this a yearly destination!
For owners building their homes in "Pecan" here there's really no limit...like, we met the the park host today, Mike. His family lived in the RV park for 7 months!
Looking forward to normal Texas weather tonite - rain, lightning, and thunder! WooHoo!
