Plans have changed! Talk to me about Sunset Bay State Park, OR

SWMBO has decided Yellowstone is out and the Oregon coast is in! Leaving from Colorado we'll stay one night in Twin Falls Idaho to break up the trip in to a couple days. Then after a good nights sleep head on out for Sunset Bay State Park, OR. Anyone been to or familiar with the Coos Bay area up there or even stayed AT that campground it's self?

Nice State Park. Haven't been there for a few years!!. Oregon's parks have fairly good sized spots and good facilities. You don't say when you are going. Most parks are almost fully reserved in the summer, esp during a weekend.

As to your "itinerary", in my mind, you are going to have 2 long days!!! Better to break up into min of 3 days or better yet 4 days. We are just short of 400 miles of Florence, and did the drive in one day, but was a long, tiring day with our 2 Boxers!!!

Another nice park on the coast is Harbor Vista slightly north of Florence. A county park, very nice, elec and water, with a good dump station to use. $25.00 per night.

We pulled the trigger. There were three full hook-up spots left for our time period. We arrive on Monday June 19 and leave Friday the the 23rd or June. Were fairly young and dumb still (early 40's) so long days are not bad, but I think you're right we may break it up into a couple days each way instead of just a whirl wind drive. We have a habit of driving like team truckers and just rotate divers and keep the wheels turning.
