Quartzsite and Dust

We are considering going to Quartzsite in January. Will dust find its way in every nook and cranny of our rig? So many people attend this event that it can't be "that" bad, but what's it like really?

It will...and it does!

One evening, after a particularly windy day, we found "dust drifts" across the head board of our bed when we returned to our coach....(but that's one reason why we have a vacuum cleaner).

Yep, some are "sealed" better than others! Our '02 DSDP was fine in the dustbowl. It's the only MH we ever had at Quartzsite.

We've never had a problem with dust getting into our motorhome. As stated, some are sealed more than others. Also, it's not always dusty - depends on the weather and you can't control that. Most RVers are very considerate when driving through the desert and also, it's not a paved roadway so they can't drive fast. You might get some hotshot ATVers zooming around occasionally.

Also if you can set your fantastic fan to blow "in" when it's windy you can pressurize the interior which seems to keep the dust from creeping in.

Wouldn't this just bring the dust in?

You beat me to it! That was my exact thought. Unless they have some "Fantastic" filter to go that that "Fantastic" fan!

You're never going to alleviate all of it but it works for us. Also if I'm going to drag the trailer down a dirt road I think it minimizes the dust inside. YMMV.

That's just part of the enjoyment of being there. With a sig name of "Desertboyz" I wouldn't think you'd care that much.

If you worry too much about getting dust in your rig, you won't go anywhere!!!!!

Ha-ha!! Yes, we did live in Rancho Mirage for many years. We know how dust/sand can find its way into a sticks and bricks home and ends up into every hidden crevice. We'd hate to screw up slide mechanisms in our new rig, have sand/grit fill every crack, or be cleaning out closets for years.

We had already planned to stay a week in Lake Havasu. I think we'll just drive down for a day. It's just a 1 hour drive.

What??? dust in the desert??? OH MY????? What next? Smog in LA???

Heck yes there is dust in the desert, every time the wind blows or some one drive with in a mile of your coach your will get dust! You have to be kidding????

If you don't like dust, then you should stay home in the smog.
