bandmbrown:
G'morning from Mitchell, S.Dak.
Don't know what kind of rig you're driving or whether you'll have a separate vehicle like a truck or a towed car, but...you'll have a wonderful experience in Quebec City and area. We've cut across the Gaspe Peninsula a few times but have yet to do the perimeter...yet. However, a visit to Quebec City is FABULOUS!
At Quebec City, just where Trans-Canadian 20 (runing SW to NE) crosses route 70 (runing N to S) and just on the NW corner of this intersection (S. side of the river), is a nice RV Park called (I think) Bernier (sp?) RV. Anyway, there a couple other parks in this area also. Check your campground directory.
If you have a separate vehicle, we'd strongly suggest parking your RV then touring the area. For example, just N. of the Rt 70 bridge crossing the St. Lawrence river hang a right for about 10 or so blocks and spend some time (daytime, AND nighttime) in Old Town Quebec. It's WONDERFUL. Clip clop carriages, Frontenanc Hotel, boardwalk high above the river, stone buildings w. copper topped roofs, beautiful churches, sidewalk cafes, sidewalk artists, live folk music in various little parks in the evening, GREAT food. You'll think you're in the middle of a beautiful French town....and....it is!!
Also, take a day trip (or overnighter) up the N. shore of the St. Lawrence along Rt. 138 and hop a little FREE ferry over to Tadoussac. Spend a little time there walking the beautiful shoreline boardwalk, and the shops, and along the way you'll see some of the prettiest vistas, and little towns anywhere. Stop for a picnic, and ya might even see a whale or two up in Tadoussac in the fjord/river where the ferry cosses. You'll love it!!
Enjoy your trip.
Steve & Lynette
