Question on experience with Boondockers Welcome

I am hoping to get some feedback from people who have joined Boondockers Welcome and have had some folks stay on their property.

Our primary residence is 3 acres in a rural part of Oregon with 20+ local wineries in the area. Super quiet (unless log trucks are coming off the hill in the AM), and I’m considering adding a spot for RV folks to use. There are some run down sheds on the property, but otherwise we keep it pretty clean. Late summer is an issue due to water availability and it is fairly hard water from the well.

How would you describe your experience with this program?

I considered it, but decided not because you never know who or what will show up. I guess I'm just not that social.

I am a member, not a host, but I have asked hosts if they were concerned about odd people coming. They all said they had only had good experiences. A host gets to see information about the prospective guest, and they don’t have to accept a request. They also don’t have to say why they decline a request. As for your location, it sounds great. And you have no obligation to provide anything to a guest except a parking spot, so do t worry about your water.

Thank you both for the feedback. I hadn’t considered the scheduling portion, I wonder if there are a certain number of days per year you have to have it available or something. We wouldn’t want people coming in while we are on our own journeys for instance.

As a memeber not owner, I've often noticed some hosts have weeks, sometimes months blocked off where reservation requests can't be made. So I'm fairly sure you can block off time for your own trips/time away.
