Recommendations for an RV park near Bellingham, Wa.

Looking to travel from central NY to attend a wedding on San Juan Island in the Fall so we are looking for any suggestions for camping areas in the Bellingham area. We are driving a 30’ class A with a toad.
Thanks for any advice.

You can't get to the San Juan Islands from Bellingham unless you have a boat. Think about camping at or near Anacortes near where the ferries depart.

Washington Park (city) is closest to the ferry landing..

Deception Pass SP is about 10 miles.

Bayview SP is about 15 miles.

Swinomish casino has camping and is about 10 miles.

There is a commercial park on the eastern of town that has full hookups but I don't remember the name.

Distances are a WAG.

Coupeville has it right. And if you are not familiar with Washington state parks they are usually quite nice. Deception Pass is stunningly beautiful. Road can be a bit tight but you should fit. It can be pretty noisy since the Naval air station is nearby but that is true of everywhere in that area.

Bay view state park is less beautiful but quiet. Spots 1 - 10 have some great views. Both parks have 20, 30 and 50 amp power at many sites. Both parks are older but well maintained. Watch the site length description as some sites you may need to disconnect the toad, but you probably will want to anyway.

Whether you stay there or not, Deception Pass should not be missed since you are already there.

Going to the San Juan Islands from Bellingham might be a challenge and I'm not familiar with any of the parks there.

There's a real nice RV park, Pioneer Trails https://www.pioneertrails.com/, in Anacortes and it's just a mile or so from the ferry landing going throughout the San Juan Islands. The casino RV park someone mentioned Swinomish RV Park is basically a parking lot with full hook-ups but not bad and it's not far from the ferry landing either. The Thousand Trails park in LaConner is nice if you're members. They may rent sites to non-members these days. It's been a while since we were in Thousand Trails.

While not in Bellingham, we stayed at Fidelgo Bay Resort in Anacortes and found it a good place to home base for the area and the ferry leaves from there to San Juan. Blog post - Big Dude's Eclectic Ramblings: 2015 Western Trip – Day 27 – Onward to Anacortes

I live in Bellingham and what others are telling you is correct. If you are taking the foot ferry or catching a boat from Bellingham that would be the only reason to stay there. The RV sites / camp grounds in Bellingham are almost non existent. There is Bayview state park with RV sites south of Bellingham near Chuckanut Drive, and a state park in Birchbay to the north otherwise your choices near Anacortes and Deception Pass are better locations.

Hi I live on San Juan Island and we have limited RV campgrounds; but you could bring your RV on the Ferry; make a reservation and be on the island for your wedding.
I work at Roche Harbor Resort and if you are interested in the RV locations on SJI; please PM me and I am glad to get you names/locations or any additional information.
market@rocheharbor.com is my work email.
