recommendations for Savannah Ga and St Augustine Fl ?

Taking a few days off after New Years for the Winnie's maiden voyage. Looking for recommendations for RV parks close in to these cities. I have a 23' Class A, no toad, no kids, small dog.

TIA

Red Gate RV park is fantastic. Have stayed there numerous times. There are two back in sites by the lake that have power and water but no sewer. Have always used those and just pull up to one of the other vacant sites on the way out to dump before leaving. Well worth it and great place to relax.

Keep the dog away from the lower lake shore...alligators!

We stayed at Hilton Head Island RV park... You could stay at HH Island Motorcoach resort too since you are in a coach... hhimotorcoachresort.com

Savannah is great, but forget what's her name restaurant - was horrible

Thomas's RV Park in Hardeeville is convenient to downtown Savannah. Anastasia State Park in St Augustine is beautiful, right on the beach. Faver Dykes State Park is a few miles out of St Augustine, very secluded.

Don't know if you require FHU or not. We do, so some of the FL state parks are out of consideration for us. There is a new or re-vamped RV park in St. Augustine called Compass. Haven't stayed there, but it looks like it's worth checking out. We stayed at Skidaway SP while visiting Savannah. FHU and very nice.

In Savannah we stayed at River's End on Tybee Island. Short drive to the city and a great place.

In St. Augustine we always stay at Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort. Right on the water.

Incidentally for both cities we have found that buying a pass on the trolley services is the very best way to see the cities. They provide parking and you can get off and on the buses whenever you want for the entire day. They come along every twenty or thirty minutes.

Compass RV Park in St. Augustine is nice. HHI Motorcoach Resort is fantastic. Nicest place I've ever stayed and has all the amenities.

As two others mentioned Skidaway SP is the place to see Savannah from. Wooded, nice sized sites, well maintained and close to town.

The savannah visitors center allows you to stay in their RV parking area for a nominal fee. I think it is $7 a day. No hookups and it is just a parking lot but it is inside the city itself. Plus there are trolley tours that leave from the same lot. We went this Spring and stayed two days, one night. There were several other RVs there and we enjoyed it. It's more like a stop off on the way through but it allows you to see the city and stay for almost nothing. We absolutely loved Savannah also.

As well you have Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina (more a park than a resort). In either case, Savannah is a short drive from HH (barring the daily traffic which can be quite congested into and out from the island).

Hilton Head Harbor and RV Resort and Marina
