I've been doing extensive research into campground databases using RV Parky and Campground Reviews (or RV Park Reviews). Some observations are that the campgrounds with the most reviews are those along the interstates / major highways and those way off the beaten path get few to none. Most of these are overnight stops in transit to somewhere else. So, where is everybody going? Are you traveling to return to the same campground. Are most folks following their annual pilgrimage OR is everyone going places they've never been. At any rate, it's easy to find a ton of transient / overnight CGs along the interstates, but what or where are the destination campgrounds? There are only so many major destinations like Grand Canyon, etc. and I think these are unlikely to be places that people would return to every year. Then I'm starting to discover a lot of "Permanent" residents in some locations. Then there's the seasonal RV'er. I get the annual migration of the snow birds to places like Phoenix and Florida. Is that it? What percent of the RV volume is repeat annual visits vs new territory?

We do a mix of both migration and destination. Some of the same parks between home and the grandkids. Destinations like Rincon Parkway, Grand Canyon, Camp Verde etc.

In our case it is a bit of repeat, and a bit of new destinations. The repeat trips are mostly to annual events, festivals, etc. (not necessarily every year) as well as local weekend trips. As to the point of destinations trips, there are lots of places to go to, there are 58 US national parks, as well as numerous non-national park destinations, road trip routes, etc.

We FTd for 7 yrs.....traveling secondary/back roads

Travel was rarely 'destination oriented'-----just a general direction

NNE, S, NNW, S, N/S/N/S, E, W

Tried NOT to use same route(s) twice
Only stayed in a few places more then once

Now...camping is done with friends and we go up into the mtns....same area(s) to just 'camp' and have fun with friends

We traveled secondary roads and used public parks. I've made hundreds of reviews on where we stayed, including Alaska. Our places may not be your places so that's why you're not finding the reviews you want.

We use our motorhome differently than most. We use it mostly to see our adult kids and now one grandbaby. they are all in CA. We used to be in IL (now Sedona) so a couple of cross country trips each year before, now 4-5 two day trips (each way). We typically follow the same route, although it had evolved some over the years. We do so much of that traveling that we don't want many other trips. Of course having a S&B in paradise helps keep us home too.
