REVIEW: Harvest Host Stop: Miller Bison Ranch, Eureka NV

We love Harvest Hosts and today I'm sharing my review of Miller Bison Ranch in Eureka NV. On our way from WA to NV we booked an overnight with Anthony Miller and his family at their ranch which is admittedly kind of in the middle of nowhere, but man is it peaceful and beautiful!

There's a short stretch of gravel road between the main road and the ranch but nothing that would dissuade me.

Despite being busy with his ranch and young family, Anthony is very responsive and communicative to messages on the Harvest Host platform. The property and surrounding vistas are beautiful and there is ample room to park easily even for the biggest rigs. There are no hookups at this stop, so you'll need to dry camp, but we're more than equipped for it.

Anthony was kind enough to spend some time with us chatting once we got set up and we got to meet his oldest child who is adorable. In exchange for our free stay, we purchased two pounds of ground bison, plus some of the best jerky we've ever tasted, plus we got to stick a bright yellow pin in Dutch Harbor, Alaska on his visitor map too!

We love Harvest Hosts because we get to meet quality people, have wonderful experiences and stay in scenic spots instead of having to stop overnight in crowded RV parks. 10/10 definitely would stay again!

Depending on how the access road is, that's only sort of in the middle of nowhere ... I love 50, it's a nice way to cross the country; and in any event it's worth going a little out of your way to get some good bison, yum. Nice review.

The access road back to the ranch isn't bad at all. Unpaved but not full of deep ruts or anything like that, if that's what you mean. We enjoyed the solitude! Beats the heck out of a Walmart parking lot!

Indeed it does. Harvest Hosts locations are more like an added destination to look forward to, rather than an unpleasant parking lot as a necessity. On that note, we've started taking the TikiBus out on short weekend tours of various Harvest Hosts in the region. Wineries, distilleries, farms, event venues, local attractions of all kinds - It's fun to mix it up. I think it's safe to say we've enjoyed doing that as much as (or even more than) camping in campgrounds. At any rate, I think picking a Harvest Host over a WM parking lot as a stop between Points A and B is the winning plan.

Eureka is one of the best small towns in Nevada. It is a cold spot, but the local mines are healthy and the town always has a fresh coat of paint and flowers in bloom. The Opera House is magnificent and so is the Court House. check out the basement of the Opera House to see all of the inscriptions by performers in the last 140 years.
