RGV

Anyone having any concerns of wintering in RGV of South Texas, with all the concerns of border crossings?

The RGV is a huge, heavily populated area. There are absolutely no more concerns than in any other heavily populated area.

We have reservations in Mission. Watching the RGV news outlets & not seeing much. I know the National Guard is down there now. I just talked to a Guard guy who just came back and said they just got extended for another 90 days. He's being transferred to Ft Huachuca in Az but did state that DPS told him it was working in Texas and that's why the guard is being extended on the Texas border. I think we've decided that we're going to keep the reservation. If we get uncomfortable we'll move up towards Corpus.

Also I think Harlingen would be fine. Unfortunately we have a breed restricted dog and the parks we wanted in would not allow him.

Our reservations are at Mission West. We are supposed to be there Nov 15 but looks like December 1st is more likely.

Our home is suppose to close by Dec. 10 , so we may be here until then, hopefully we can get everything sold or moved into storage, hopefully want be snowing in NWA until January. Wife has hearing surgery this month and we were going to head south nov 14, so maybe we can see each other when we get down there.

Yes the snow and ice in this area this year is suppose to be worst then last year, that's why we decided to go south this year , although DW wanted to go to AZ , our friends at Branson talked us into going to South Tx , maybe next year we will go to AZ.

We spent a few weeks in Mission TX last winter and enjoyed our stay. Never felt uncomfortable or had any problems.

We have and are going back to near LaFeria TX. Have done it since 2007. Never felt unsafe, plus we ho to Progesso, MX many times during the winter. Our park is always full and having a great time.

Are there problems with border crossings? We have never had problems crossing at Columbia Bridge north of Laredo on our RV trips to Yucatan and Belize.
