Rincon Parkway - Ventura County!!

Have spent many a week at this magnificent coastal camping destination over the years. A year or two ago they went to a reservation system replacing the first come first served system which worked pretty well. If one arrived early or mid morning on a tues-thurs you could generally be guaranteed a site.

Just tried booking for mid-late October via their on line reservation portal and nothing is available!!Tried different arrival days, shorter or longer stays...NADA!! The previous system wasn't perfect but I never got shut out when we wanted to visit. Just had to make sure and not try to arrive on a Friday or Sat. Not even sure how long one can reserve out. Could be months and months...Just sucks in my opinion and just had to vent.

Yep. Things are crazy everywhere these days. It's the perfect storm -- there is nothing to do but go camping, so that is what everyone is doing.

Someday, RV travel will return to a semblance of normalcy. Until then, we just have to grit our teeth.

Wait a minute, Bill. I just noticed that your signature says you live in Poulsbo. So it is hard for me to feel too sorry for you! . You live in a place that I have often driven 1500 miles just to get to -- you are a day away from the North Cascades, the Olympics, etc., etc. RV Heaven.

True, you are far from the warm surf at Rincon. But as it turns out, the water this summer is very cold -- around 60 degrees. Even with a wetsuit, that is cold!

Hang in there. If I recall correctly, the blackberries in your back yard are ripe right about now. And for folks who have never tasted wild Washington blackberries, you are missing out on one of the best things in life.

Serve them with vanilla ice cream!

We spent three nights there March 2019. Beautiful, but got very windy.

As a local I love the new reservation system but you do need to plan ahead. Locally, before the reservation system, it was extremely difficult to get in. Campers would wait to leave until a friend RVer arrived so the friend got the spot and then it was repeated over and over again. Some locals would park their Rig in an open spot during the week, go home or back to work until the weekend arrived and then show up to camp. There is a LARGE local RVing community. Now, add COVID 19 to the mix and as soon as the Rincon opened back up for camping every spot was filled within hours for the entire summer, as was Hobson and Faria. BTW reservation booking at the Rincon is 48hrs to 90 days.
