Road Conditions
Just returned from Boston back to Virginia. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON MORE TERRIBLE ROADS THAN I-81 AND I-84 IN AND AROUND SCRANTON, PA. My advise is avoid this area if at all posdible. I made a complaint to the Governor's office and Penn Dot for all the good it will probably do.

Sounds like most interstates but I'm confident the governor will get right back to you

I just drove through Sturgis a couple of days ago. I-90 is nice and smooth for the most part, with some areas of construction. That nice highway continued all they way across the state. Minnesota, however, was very bumpy.
Montana was good, for the most part.

PA Interstates
WELL, welcome to PA! Trucker magazines regularly rank PA as some of the worst highways in the country! Why? PADOT personnel blame a lot of it on the fact that PA is a major crossroads of the northeast US (the Keystone State) and heavy trucks are brutal on highways. PA also has more roadways under state maintenance requirements than any other state. Something like 4000 miles! (This is why PA has the highest gasoline tax in the country. Currently 50 cents per gallon!) The climate of PA is brutal - constant change warm/cold. Winter is brutal on highways. Excuses, excuses, I know. But we drive these highways every day. Don't know what else to tell ya!
