RV camping spots, things to see and do TN Smokeys and NC

doing a 4-5 night trip from Kentucky through the smokies October 15-19. Looking for ideas on routes, neat RV parks or points of interest. will not be towing a dingy. Likely will head south on 75 from Lexington KY toward Knoxville as first leg.

Any help appreciated

Taking the Bourbon Trail was fun. All those distilleries and tasting rooms.

Kentucky Horse Park? The campground has trick or treating the weekend of Oct 19. Great time for the kids. If no spots, there is a huge primitive area.

Take the children on the tour, it's educational. They just can't participate in the tasting. Tell them they must be on their best behavior if they want to go to Gatlinburg and visit Cooters and Star's Car Museum.
Oh yeah, Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills TN is a great place to tour and camp if your in the area.

The Kentucky Horse Park is great, an all day event and is dog friendly.
Shaker Village is another great spot to visit with kids.

Smoky Mountain National Park is closed due to our fine Federal government at non-work. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge have lots of attractions for kids to spend money. In Gatlinburg many years ago a friend and I came up with a theory, there is such a vast amount of kitsch and schlock for sale that the merchants keep moving it to the next shop you enter from the one you left, for surely there can't be THAT many items repeated so often. I mean, how much varnished red cedar dust collectors can you own?

I am pretty sure that not far from you is the Ripleys aquarium of the smokies. It is a beautiful aquarium. Moving walkway through reef exhibits, etc. I have seen many aquariums in my line of work and this is a good one.
