RV Lot Ownership
We’re new to extended (not full time) RV life. Does this scenario exist? Ownership (not rent or long term lease) of an RV site in an upscale RV community having all the amenities you would find at a luxury RV resort?
Thank You GDG. 07 Monaco Diplomat 400 ISL

Do you have a particular area of the country you'd be interested in?
This might narrow your search.

Short answer is yes, but the devil is in the details. We have a lot in NC (Olde Beau Motor Coach resort) that meets your definitions. Its about where you want to be, and how much you wish to pay.

We lived there 23 years.... The size, frequency and severity of the storms got to be way too much for us (and we lived 30 miles from the coast).
Power out for days or weeks in the sweltering heat and humidity. Irma took every oak tree in our yard and snapped the top off some of the pines. Took three months to get them removed as all the tree folks were working for FEMA. When they did come it cost us $3,000 out of pocket. And it came up the center of the state.
If you're set on it.... take the weather seriously and plan for it.

Just food for thought, in addition to your rather substantial rv lot cost in an upscale rv park in southern Florida, most charge an HOA fee in a $300-500 range. On top of that you pay your own utilities in most, plus annual property taxes. There are clearly some very nice upscale rv parks in southern Florida, but they won’t come cheap. We seriously thought about purchasing one, but a lot of money for a concrete or paver slab and amenities. We opted for an rv garage home which gave us the best of both worlds. Best wishes on whatever you decide.

Not sure what hurricanes have to do with owning a Fla RV lot... the RV has wheels and its not going to be there during hurricane season. Cheaper to rent if only going to snowbird for 3 months. Owning makes sense if using for 5-6 months.

I think they were saying a beautiful lot was turned into a wasteland with no trees and was unusable for weeks and months at a time when a storm passed through. I also believe that is the hazard of living on the coast anywhere. For some it's worth it for some it isn't. I am on the fence. I love the coast but ....
