For the first time in my life I succumbed to purchashing a “time share” (for lack of a better term for it) RV resort spot. I pay $188 a month for who knows how long, plus a $500 yearly “maintenance fee” (what, to sweep off the concrete slab each year?). Not happy with it, hard to sell it to another sucker. Don’t buy into one.

I too broke down and purchased a 2750th share in a time share RV resort. But, the benefits are so numerous that I don't regret plunking down $600 and an additional $305/year to be a member here. It's just so darn convenient. I get 35 nights stay at $3.50 per night, then pay $12.50 for any nights over that 35 days for the rest of the year. There's some other restrictions but I forget what they are as I only stay 6 months or so per year.

As a snow bird, I was finding it difficult to find a spot down here in the warm areas in Nevada and Arizona during the winter where I wouldn't be turned away or forced out because a 'regular' had a year old 'reservation'. That sort of thing began to happen far too often and was becoming a difficulty. Having to scramble to find a park to stay at that was comfortable (it's not a money thing, I have enough to afford wherever I please), wasn't all that fun.

Here at the park where I'm now a member, I'm guaranteed a spot whenever I stop here. And since I'd be passing here anyway whether I'm heading N-S or S-N, it just made economic sense IF...I wanted to keep traveling in my RV! And I do. This park checks all my wants, including a carpentry shop, dining hall with regular low cost meals, walking distance to good restaurants in two nearby casinos, a covered pool, mail collection, a nice VA clinic in town, good shopping, fun, etc., etc., etc..

So in my opinion, there are some RV resort time shares out there that are worth it.

Good luck, hope you find a buyer soon. In my case, the new rate is now triple what I paid because of all those wanting to buy in so if I sell, should make a bit.

We went to look at an older Newmar yesterday in Tulsa and the couple was raving about Hearthside. Sounds like it's one of the better luxury resorts in the nation. It's not what we're after right now but when/if we settle back down it could be an option if we can afford it.

It looks like the new rate is 5k so you will be ok if you ever sell.
