RV subdivisions

Where can I find info on purchasing a lot ( or renting) in a gated RV community that allows improvements such as garages, etc.? I have seen them advertised in a directory, but don't know what they are called to do an Internet search. We are specifically interested in Texas.

The big one I'm aware of is The Great Outdoors in Titusville, FL. It's a huge resort community with bare RV lots, RV ports, RV ports with Florida room, houses with RV. Garages, and everything in between.

Thanks, but we moved to Lake Conroe several years ago after 30 years in Corpus Christi. Wanted to get closer to grand kids and away from tropical weather. RGV is lovely, but we are enjoying the piney woods area now and don't think we could go further south now.

there is a nice one at lake Whitney and at the Houston RV show there was a new one starting between lake Conroe and lake Livingston called the Preserve.

Lake Whitney is quite nice and very established. DW is hesitant, but I would buy there now. The Preserve looks like it is going to be a little bit classier if they get done what they are advertizing. I think they have a webpage not sure though.

Yes, they do have a website. Looks like a very nice setup. Only concern is Trinity River flooding. Several years ago, it devastated a large area. Will check it out and let you know. There's also an established subdivision outside Livingston with some resale properties. We're going to look at those too. Not familiar with Lake Whitney, but found some owner parks there as well. Also found a first class property in Kerrville, but aside from being too far, it was also more than we want to invest. Our goal is to stay in the Houston/East TX area. Thanks for the suggestions!

LOVE Great Outdoors - my parents retired there over 25 years ago and have never looked back. First they lived in their RV, then they built a house (they live next to the cart path between the first green & the 2nd tee). Now that we have an RV, we're planning a trip to visit them that doesn't involve sleeping in their loft or at the hotel by the Cracker Barrel.

we have our rv port at holiday villages of lake fork, they also have properties at medina lake and livingston

my advice is to call and ask about water rates and whether they are a private water company or city supplied
we are screwed bad at lake fork basic water and sewer each month before you use one drop is 133.00
and its tiered to really double around june

and all holiday village properties simply do not ever repair the roads
we have had our place over 7 years and it just keeps going downhill in upkeep
but our place of very secure and safe,
if we didnt like our place so much, we would have moved on

Wow, can't believe the water rate! We have a private water company at our home at Lake Conroe, and the water is full of calcium and very expensive but hadn't thought about it being a problem in an RV community. We are heading out tomorrow to check out Rainbow's End in Livingston (an Escapees property) then to The Preserve just outside Cleveland, Tx. Will post our findings when we return. In the meantime, thanks for the feedback. Happy Trails!
