Salmon and Crab on the Oregon Coast

We have decided to go to Oregon Coast RV Resort from 9/3/21 - 9/12/21. Most all other parks in the area will NOT take reservations, no matter how you ask.

Have the boat, tackle and crabbing gear.

If anyone is interested, come on by. We'll have a great time.

Oh, doggies... I can smell the boil from here... Yum!
.
An aside:
About 2005 or so, we were in a 26' at the mouth of the Umpqua at Reedsport.
Me, my neighbor, and some neighborhood kids.
.
I snagged a 40# tuna; not biting, snagged.
I reeled it in, we gaffed it, got it aboard...
.
...just as we heard a yuge splash.
We thought one of the kids fell in.
I looked away from my fish for a sec for a head-count, then glanced at the water...
.
...as a sturgeon -- as long as the boat -- glared at me with a head bigger than my shoulders.
.
Late afternoon at the ramp, F&G pulled up, excited.
She got my tuna snag on video, no issues.
But that sturgeon, she said we don't know the age of a fish that size.
Could be six hundred years old, could be a couple thousand years old, we don't know.
.
PS:
As soon as we got the tuna aboard and bled, that tummy was sliced raw, sweet and warm and delicious.
At home, some went into steaks, some into the smoker.
.
I am very fond of the Oregon coast.

Marge, where you were in the above post is right where we will be. Winchester Bay/Reedsport Oregon.

Interested? Yup ! Sad to say, though, my GD is visiting from Boston that same time period and she gets top billing.

Maybe next time.

My kids think that they are getting an inheritance -

we will just miss you. Will be arriving 9/13 in Gold Coast. Then up north to Lincoln City. No issues making reservations at any of the spots I called (some were full, and I think somewhat limited spaces available for a 40')

Took the boat up to Reedsport this past weekend. Changing our venue to Indian Creek Campground in Gold Beach, OR.

We didn't like that when you exit the park, you dump right onto HWY 101, in the middle of a blind curve. Also the driveway is a short but steep uphill.

Gold Beach this year and possibly Winchester Bay next year.

We are out.
No grief.
.
We can break-away from the farm and our workkamping gig for an overnight plus a couple afternoons, Gold Beach is a couple hundred miles of winding two-lane... we figure a half-day each way.
.
Have fun!

In April we started at Coos Bay and headed north up the coast. In September we're going back… starting at Coos Bay again and heading south this time.

Strange that you are finding parks won't take reservations. We have already made them at every stop on the coast, though we plan to wing it on the way home once we head inland.

We'll be at Oceanside RV Resort in Charleston (near Coos Bay) Sept. 13-16. 3rd night is free for veterans! Beautiful beach just a couple hundred yards from the site. We stayed there in May too and loved it. We'll be at Ireland's RV Resort in Gold Beach after that.

Check out the Harbor View Inn and RV Park if you're heading to Garibaldi. Great view of the bay out the front window and several restaurants and a fresh fish shop a few steps away. Gasoline and propane just down the street too. This was one of our favorite stops last trip.

If you see a Dolphin pulling a candy apple red PT Cruiser, give us a shout.

Well, we were able to move up to Winchester Bay sooner than expected. Were planning to stay here just 2 weeks but it was only $50 more to stay for a month so here you
