We stayed at Blue Springs CG in Blue Springs MO about 30 min. outside KC. It's at Independence. This is a county-run CG that feels like you're in the country and is easily accessed off I-70. It's very nice. Actually, we'll be going through there again this summer and will stay a 2nd time. You can see reviews at campgroundreviews.com. Everyone gives it high marks.

Not much of camp grounds in SLC itself. There a OK KOA near North Temple. Also a good sam camp off of I-15 in the Sandy/Drapper area. Located between 134S and 142s area on the east side. Going more south
on I-15 to springville there a very nice place down there on the north part of town between Provo and Springville on the east side of I-15.

Other option is to stop in the Park City area on I-80 about 25 minutes East of Salt Lake city area. There several camp grounds in the area.

Basswood Resorts in Platte City, about 10 miles north off I29 and MO Hwy 92, is a great place. We were there in April for a week and had a great pull thru site. It is close to Zona Rosa in KC North and Loy's of shopping and restaurants. Definitely on our return list.

I second Worlds of Fun campground. Additionally, Cummins and Freightliner are across the street if you need maintenance.

We really liked "Flemming Park / Lake Jacomo Campground" in Lee's Summit, just Southeast of KC

Had to go into town and sample BBQ at Arthur Bryant's, makes my mouth water now

If you're seeing things around the Temple area this place is very convenient.

If you are traveling through KC on I-70 (east/west) there is a park in Bonner Springs, KS near Cabela's, Nebraska Furniture Mart, KS Speedway, and Legends outlet mall with plenty of dining options.

Worlds of a Fun/Oceans of Fun is a nicer park and is convenient to Cummins, Freightliner, Blue Beacon etc, Casino close but not much else. A little out of your way for East/West travel but it is a nice.

Grain Valley, MO (very Eastern Suburb) has one also right off I-70 next to a couple RV Dealers and a new Camping World.

Going north from KC Basswoods is a nice park as other poster pointed out. South of KC on I-49 there is another RV park south of Harrisonville, MO also near a RV Dealer.

If spending some time in Kansas City there is another older campground of I-35 in Shawnee called Walnut Grove, mainly back in sites. Not real nice but shaded and good location for the KS Suburbs.

Good luck

In KC area

KC is a pretty big area. It depends on your area of interest . The state parks in Missouri are nice. East side of KC - Blue Springs and Jacomo
South central Longview Lake. South west and out a ways is Hillsdale st Park, and although I have not been there, it is rated VERY high

Safe travels
