Salt Lake City area
We would like to head toward Salt Lake City after leaving Moab, any suggestions on what to see in that area or surrounding area ? We can stay 3-4 days before heading back to Illinois the middle of May. Thanks

We've stayed around Heber City/Jordanelle State Park and did a couple day trips into the city. It's not our favorite way to explore but we like to stay in scenic countrysides rather than cities. Park City (Olympic Park) was interesting.

All the above.
If you get downtown try Tony Caputo's for a meatball sandwich.

Also go to the Red Iguana. Go early for either lunch or dinner or you will be waiting outside.

Excellent point. And for the best experience go to the original and not the Red Iguana 2 nearby - same food but better ambience at the original.

We stayed at Jordanelle State park several years ago, easy in & out. They have e & w sites and some full hookup sites. Close to Park City and Salt Lake for tourist stuff

Jordanelle is indeed a beautiful State Park. I've attached a photo from our visit there May 12, 2017.

Brigham City KOA, maybe 45 min. north of SLC. make sure you get up to Promontory Point - home of the "Golden Spike" with the railroads! Excellent interpretive site. ST

You’ve got a great list from FirstTracks, but you will never get all that done on 3-4 days! In May I would remove Antelope Island from your list. There are biting gnats that are unbelievably viscious from April through June. I would recommend you stay in town also, not at one of the outlying state parks. It sounds like you will just be coming back to the RV to sleep, so stay at the KOA on North Temple. Easy access to the Trax light rail system to take you to all the sites near downtown, and easy access to the interstate for your other sites. The Trax station is only a block from the entrance. Plus it is close to Red Iguana! Golden Spike is cool if you are into trains, but it is a long trip on not great roads. I would put it toward the bottom of your list. If you are coming from the west on I-80 you will be driving through salt flats, so stop at the interpretive area and enjoy it. Stay on the road! The salt can be deceptively soft. Thanksgiving Point is at least a full half day, and it could easily be a full day by itself. Natural History Museum is a good half day.

LOL! Very true. My list was the proverbial bowl of spaghetti -- throw it against the wall and see what sticks.
