Salt Lake City Area Campgrounds
Ok.. I did a search and came up empty. Any suggestions for a campground for a Big Rig (45 ft) in the Salt Lake City area?? Anywhere in the 45 minute to 1 hour range? FHU would be desirable as we plan on being in this area for awhile.
Thanks!
Frances

We use the KOA just South of SLC, 30 min from Lehi (cousins there). Works for us

We stay there every other year.
Be aware Thursday, July 24, 2025 is Pioneer Day and a ton of people are using the KOA

We stayed last fall at the SLC KOA. It is convenient to the historic area and the interstate.

We visited the area in 2021 to see friends who line on the North side of SLC and stayed at what was Pony Express RV Resort, 1012 Recreation Way, North Salt Lake. Looks now like it's under the name Sun Outdoors Salt Lake City. All pull-through FHU sites. Park was clean and sites were easy access. If we get back up that way, we'll likely look to stay there again.

When we sold our house in the SLC area, we ended up staying in the Salt Lake KOA on North Temple for a few weeks while everything got moved and paperwork completed on the new house. We have stayed there a number of times since when visiting. Nice place, shady, close to the tourist sites and the hospitals, lots of security. We have also stayed at Bridger Bay Campground at Antelope Island State Park north of SLC proper. They added FHU sites a few years ago. Best sunset views in the entire Wasatch Front! Interesting to have bison wandering through the campground occasionally.

We’ve stayed at Utah Lake State Park a couple of times. It’s down by Provo and is on Utah Lake. Plenty of room for big rigs and lots of interesting restaurants in Provo.

We spent a winter at Mountain Shadows down in Draper and found it very low key and pleasant. It's a little tight, but you should be able to get in and out (we had no problems with a 40' coach towing). It's a little ways from the airport and downtown but super easy to get up into the mountains, among other things the bus lines run real close to there. Nice part of town. I wouldn't say SLC has a "bad part" per se, it ain't Philly by any means but Draper is nice. Good monthly rates and they are happy to have ya for a longer stay.
You have to kinda wend through the neighborhood to get there. Don't worry, it looks worse on the map than it is in person, it's fine

With a 45' motorhome you might consider using this publications for big rigs:

We have decided on the KOA. Trip is not until August but we are in the early planning stages as we know we have to make reservations well in advance.
Destination will be Sedona, AZ where we will be meeting up with the Fantasy RV tour for the Sensational SW tour followed by the Balloon Fest.
Again, thanks to all!!
