I am a KOA member and for my current trip from NC->CO, AZ and UT I have 3 KOAs booked to stay at. I do this because they are generally safe and nice for kids. We take a 5yr old GD with us. KOA keep her busy.

If you are still planning your trip to CG, book now. Just finished mind and I got some of the last spots available and I also had to go far from the targeted locations to make it work.

I think you mean Sam Rayburn lake (I live about 50 miles from Jasper, TX)

NO

That is 5 actual days to go from San Antonio to the Grand Canyon and back. Each way is over 1100 miles, so it's about 2500ish miles total.
How long did you want to stay at the Grand Canyon? You can easily spend a couple of weeks there.

Sorry, it's Not realistic

It is doable, however there will be 2 long days of travel each way and a quick visit. I would say day one will need to be 7-800 mile in order to do it.
